Okay, so since I posted about Lere's Guardian, I thought it was only fitting to make a post about the software that I will be making it in.
Ideally, flaRPG will be a fully-featured framework for flash that will handle typical functions of RPG type games to allow for rapid game development. To put it crudely, RPG-Maker for flash. But even that's only scratching the surface. I started this project because of RPG-Maker's restrictions (and the instability of any alternatives). It will handle things like stat-keeping, saving (both via cookies and to the hard drive), tile scrolling, map editing, sprite management, objective management, etc. etc. etc... If there's an RPG convention, you can rest assured it's on the list of proposed features. Right now, I'm in the research stage. I'm developing a small-ish game of my own in the PushButton engine to get an idea of how things are done. Expect many updates to come.

That's the beauty of it. I plan on making it so you can learn to make an RPG with it as easily as you would with RPG Maker. Less actionscript, and more custom functions/automation.
I will be documenting everything as I go and creating a wiki site with examples and tutorials. The plan is to lower the bar for writers and designers to become game developers.
As a side note: it will be freely available under the MIT license, open source (upon individual request), and highly modular, meaning you can pick and choose what's included, and even extend the code.
